Our one-day workshops are designed for and available exclusively to NICAS accredited centres. Workshops usually run from 10am to 4pm, accommodate up to 9 participants, and are delivered by a member of our Coach Development Team. They typically include a mix of presentations, coach-led tasks, and on-wall climbing sessions or other physical activities.

Who can attend?
Attendees must work at an accredited centre. There are no other prerequisites, although some workshops assume prior experience delivering NICAS.

All workshop fees include VAT (prices as of January 2025):

NICAS Wild Climbers Workshop
This workshop aims to familiarise coaches with the content, resources, and delivery of this scheme. It’s a great option for any staff who are less comfortable working with younger climbers and is a fantastic opportunity for all staff to get hands-on experience delivering new material and receiving individualised feedback. It includes:
- Overview of NICAS Wild Climbers
- Staff and facility pre-requisites
- Available resources
- Props and aids
- Importance of session planning
- Creating themes, being enthusiastic and maintaining safety
- Managing parents and carers
- Inclusivity and adjusting content
- Managing expectations (participant, coach, parent, facility)
NICAS Clip Workshop
The very popular NICAS Clip Workshop gives coaches the opportunity to become familiar with NICAS’ philosophies, the NICAS Clip syllabus, and associated resources, as well as introducing attendees to key climbing movement skills, coaching models, and gamification. It includes:

NICAS Movement Workshop
Meeting the needs of NICAS Climbing and Bouldering Levels 1-3, the NICAS Movement Workshop brings coaches up to speed with the NICAS syllabuses, movement skills within climbing, and related resources, as well as exposing coaches to some simple coaching models, gamification and inclusivity. It includes:

NICAS Lead Climbing Workshop
The NICAS Lead Climbing Workshop builds on safety skills learned during CWDI or in-house training. Expanding the topics of lead climbing to be more NICAS focused, including introducing gameplay, using alternative backup options when simu-leading, and legal considerations around age and maturity. It includes:

NICAS Performance Climbing Workshop
The NICAS Performance workshop allows coaches the opportunity to explore topics learnt on the Mountain Training coaching pathway and BMC Workshops, and helps them understand how to apply their knowledge in a real-world environment.
The workshop offers practical learning opportunities and covers a range of topics to support NICAS Climbing Level 5, and NICAS Bouldering Levels 4 and 5. This includes energy systems, athlete benchmarking, PPTT and Personal Performance Profiling, as well as training considerations with children, periodisation and the UK competition pathway. It includes:

NICAS Bespoke Workshop
This workshop includes necessary NICAS inductions, which will help coaches and course directors understand their responsibilities when delivering the NICAS schemes, as well as exploring what resources are available to support this.
The workshop can be tailored to meet the needs of your facility, and as well as covering induction topics, can also include elements from the other workshops within the suite.
