NICAS Ascend: Coming soon

NICAS Ascend is a new climbing award scheme that has been designed for – and tried and tested with – disabled and neurodivergent climbers. It’s the brainchild of Sarah Jones, a climbing coach with a background in disability sport and teaching. Sarah was inspired by her brother Zac to look into how to adapt climbing opportunities for young people with complex needs. Together with Sarah, we are keen to make the resulting framework available to as many people as possible who could benefit.

We are preparing our rollout plans for NICAS Ascend in conjunction with Access Sport, who are disability and inclusion specialists. We’ll be announcing updates about NICAS Ascend on this page between now and early December, so watch this space!

In the meantime, if you’d like to register an expression of interest in delivering this inclusive scheme, then please complete the form linked from Access Sport: Change the Sport of Climbing.
