NICAS Mini-Workshops Debut at The Big Hold Up

This September, NICAS is excited to partner with Serious Climbing Distribution to present a brand new Mini-Workshop series at “The Big Hold Up” event. Scheduled for Thursday 19th September 2024, this innovative training day offers climbing coaches a unique opportunity to enhance their skills with focused, half-day sessions at The Mini Works in Sheffield.

In this first-of-its-kind series, NICAS is offering three distinct Mini-Workshops, each tailored to specific aspects of climbing coaching:

  • NICAS Wild Climbers: Led by Dani Griffith, this session delves into game-led learning, inclusivity, and adaptability, providing valuable insights into the NICAS Wild Climbers scheme.

  • NICAS Movement: Facilitated by Jay Jackson, this workshop focuses on movement skills and coaching models, helping coaches to deepen their understanding of the NICAS Climbing and NICAS Bouldering syllabuses.

  • NICAS Performance: Guided by Skinner (Head of Coach Development at NICAS), this session explores advanced training techniques and practical applications for coaching at higher levels, including energy systems and athlete benchmarking.

Coaches can choose between a morning slot (10am-1pm) or an afternoon slot (2pm-5pm), or opt for both sessions for a full day of professional development. Each workshop is designed to offer a condensed version of NICAS’s most popular training topics, making it easier for busy coaches to gain in-depth knowledge in a short amount of time.

This partnership with Serious Climbing Distribution and The Mini Works not only provides a fantastic learning experience but also immerses attendees in a vibrant climbing community. After the workshops, participants are encouraged to stay for a climb at The Climbing Works or join in The Big Hold Up, making it a day not to be missed.

Spaces are extremely limited, so book now to secure your spot!
