Workshop Content and Learning Outcomes
Instructing vs Coaching, Telling vs Discovering.
In this workshop we will share ideas, experiences and explore a learner based approach to teaching belaying.
V- knee – 1-2-3, P-B-U-S, tunnelling and other methods of telling belayers might seem fast but how competent do they make our belayers? Can our belayers cope with changes in environment and anomalies that naturally occur as their climbing progresses or as instructors do we constantly need to jump in and correct them.
In this workshop we will explore a learner based approach to teaching and developing belaying in our climbers that can help them develop safe skills at the right time, setting them up to become experienced competent belayers able to adapt and make decisions for themselves and be safe!
You will need to be a registered competent climber at The Overhang and pay entry for this workshop.
